Engrossed bill
What does engrossed bill mean?
An engrossed bill is the official version of a bill as passed by one chamber, with all of that chamber's amendments included.
Why it matters for advocates
Once one chamber passes a bill, clerks prepare the engrossed text and send it to the other chamber. That is the version the second chamber works from.
When you cite bill language in a meeting, check whether you are reading the introduced, engrossed, or enrolled version. They can be very different.
